Warnambool Cheese and Butter

 

Warrnambool Cheese & Butter has been conducting a number of sessions over the last year to gauge the opportunity of farmers to increase production and profits while improving NRM practices on farm. A focus farm model was used to gather important issues from the farmers in the region and address these concerns via a facilitator who organised the sessions.

The Ballarat group was chosen because of the supply nature of the region and affects of drought and reduced rainfall.

There were a number of activities organised including Whole farm planning, completing DairySAT, then addressing the issues that came out of these assessments.

The project was formed to expand the knowledge of the farmer group in environmental issues, and try to measure productivity and practice changes over the short period of the project.
