Western AustraliaNutrient Management in WA 12 farms in the Geographe and Lower Blackwood catchments are involved in the 1 year pilot project. The aim of the project is to heighten the awareness and adoption of on- farm change in nutrient management. The project involves soil analysis, whole farm nutrient mapping and nutrient budgets. The farmers will take part in one to one discussion of farm nutrient strategies and also be part of workshops during the course of the project. The project agronomist and farmers will be working closely with the Greener Pastures team from DAFWA who will provide extension and workshop input to the famers. Further workshops will be delivered to NRM groups and agribusiness consultants. The project is also working with the University of WA. The pilot farms will be part of UWA research into the soil health and biology. The catchment results will be part of UWA website – www.soilquality.org.au and ongoing research. The project is supported by Western Dairy, Department of Water, Geocatch, and DAFWA. |
